What is Gamma Iota Sigma?
Gamma Iota Sigma is a collegiate business fraternity made up of students who are interested in pursuing a career in insurance.

The key to a successful resume is not primarily grades based. Companies want to see your involvement, what leadership skills you bring to the table, and how teachable you are. Having Gamma Iota Sigma on your resume stands out to employers even when you're applying to a company that has nothing to do with insurance. 2. Scholarships
Every year exclusive scholarships are given to members of Gamma Iota Sigma. Upon receiving scholarships, our students are invited to attend a scholarship lunch in Jackson, MS with numerous insurance professionals.
3. Travel
Gamma Iota Sigma provides its members with the opportunity to attend conferences and events dealing with insurance. These conferences are typically in large cities such as San Diego, Atlanta, and New Orleans. The school alleviates some of these conference costs to encourage students to attend. These conferences are sponsored by some of the largest and most profitable insurance firms in the world. At these events, companies hold interesting educational sessions as well as a career fair to recruit students for internships and full time positions. There are also receptions and socials for networking and building relationships. These companies know that these are the most motivated students in the country and are eager to reward opportunities to members of Gamma Iota Sigma.
4. Exclusive Insurance Career Fairs & Speakers
Apart from the career fairs mentioned above, Mississippi State University provides insurance students with a chance to meet and network with companies right here on campus. It is open to all students, however, it is exclusively a fair for the insurance industry. This is a great opportunity to shake the important hands and discover information about internships and career opportunities. We also invite insurance professionals to speak to the students, making their major more tangible.
5. Giving Back
Gamma Iota Sigma, aside from being a professional society of students, is involved with giving back to the community and conducting service projects. One organization that the Mississippi State chapter supports is Palmer Home for Children. It is a great opportunity for students to be a huge part of these kids' lives through various events and activities.
6. Being an Alumni
Once you join this program and see all of the opportunities it has to offer, you will see why alumni can't help but give back. Giving back means many different things to Gamma Iota Sigma. As a graduate in the insurance field, it could mean coming back once a year to speak to students about your experiences, donating money so that students are able to attend trips at an affordable price, or being a scholarship extender to an exceptional student in need.
